SINOPSIS:
In the time of the Tang Dynasty, Yu Xiufeng, a porcelain maker from Mount Meicen, makes a ceramic statue of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara to consecrate at Mount Wutai to protect the princeling Li Yi. When the holy statue is finally ready, Xiufeng stumbles across an orphan baby girl whom he decides to raise as his own. They give her the name Little Lotus. Everyone says that since she had appeared at the same time as the statue it must be the will of the heavens — an incarnation of Avalokitesvara in the human realm. Twenty years later Little Lotus has grown into an attractive young woman who is always very compassionate because her adopted father told her that anyone she meets on the street might just be her real mother or father. Little Lotus, they all say, is as benevolent and kind as the Bodhisattva. Then a Japanese monk, Hui’e, is sent to China on a mission to bring the statue to Japan. With the help of Little Lotus, he succeeds. But no sooner is the statue loaded onto the boat than a fierce storm arises...
